Brain Size 61 2024

Bring it. Classic rock and punk power chords, scorching guitar solos and smart sly lyrics with a little bit of metal sprinkled on top. The rules have been simple right from the get-go, it had to be loud, fast and fun. Stories, struggles and crushed dreams wrapped up and ready to rumble.

Thirty years ago, Brain Size 61 was hatched in Montreal Canada. Born from the minds of the Hutchins brothers, Craig and Mike, it’s a luscious blend of deranged combustible musical energy. Signed to Milagro Records since the beginning, their first album “National Pinecone” (2007) launched them upon the world with gutsy punk rock and roll tunes like “Ballad of the Burbs” and fan favorite “Catharsis” as well as their first music video for “Permanent Pout”. To top it all off there are blazing guest tracks from Mikey Heppner of Priestess and Les Godfrey from the band Illuminati.

“Home Invasion” (2012) followed up with more clever songwriting, big guitar sounds and hard, loose rhythms. The video of the track “Monkey That Got Too Smart” was played nationwide in Canada on music television.

With the release of “Influence” (2017) the band elevated their game. Impressively recorded, mixed and produced by April Hutchins, “Influence” goes straight for the throat. The tune “Got My Eye on You” experienced a lot of success on radio around the world and the music video played in rotation on Canadian music television.

Size does matter and the album “Bonsai Hemlock” (2020) brought it huger, harder and faster. The track “Our Love Tastes Like Soap” brought the band more worldwide radio exposure.

The band was thrilled to release their first vinyl “Pudknocker’s Ball” (2024) and gained worldwide radio and streaming success with the album singles “It’s All Good”, “Never Soon Enough”, “Death by Pity Sex” and “Pudknocker’s Ball”. The tracks had radio play and were streamed in over 100 countries.
